The iPhone 16 family is not limited to the 2024 releases: iPhone 16e arrived in 2025 with a different configuration. For screen, camera, button or charging work, the complete name prevents a quote for the wrong part.

Apple identifies iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max as 2024 models, and iPhone 16e as a 2025 model. The 16e is not a renamed 16: it has one rear camera; 16 models have two and Pro models three.
Before testing: when to stop
If the battery is swollen, the screen is lifting, one area becomes unusually hot or there are signs of liquid, do not charge or keep trying to power on. Turn the device off if you can do so safely and arrange an inspection. Do not press a lifted screen or touch loose glass.
A drop near controls or cameras
- Test the side button, Action button and camera controls only where the identified model has them.
- Check every available camera, focus, shaky image and external cover glass separately.
- If Face ID stopped, read the Face ID guide and avoid repeated resets.
- A bent frame can stop a new display seating correctly; inspect before ordering.
USB-C, battery and restarts
- Do not mistake a configured charge limit for a failed port.
- Heat, shutdowns and fast drain can have different causes; do not order a battery from one symptom.
- For a wet port or liquid event: no charging, heat or rice; use the liquid triage guide.
