The iPhone 15 family moves to USB-C, but a phone that will not charge does not automatically have a failed port. Cable, adapter, debris, moisture, battery and board faults can look similar; testing starts with safe accessories and the exact model.

Confirm the model and accessories
- Record the cable and adapter used and whether that pair charges another device.
- 15 and 15 Plus have two rear cameras; Pro and Pro Max have three. Do not order by colour or diagonal.
- Back up if the phone is stable; never disclose a password or passcode.
iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max are Apple's 2023 models. All use USB-C, but sizes and cameras differ. Confirm the name in Settings → General → About and in Apple's list.
Before testing: when to stop
If the battery is swollen, the screen is lifting, one area becomes unusually hot or there are signs of liquid, do not charge or keep trying to power on. Turn the device off if you can do so safely and arrange an inspection. Do not press a lifted screen or touch loose glass.
USB-C: a test path, not a conclusion
- If the plug moves, do not twist the cable to hold contact.
- Do not clean USB-C with a needle, metal tweezers or liquid.
- If charging stops at an iOS limit you selected, check the setting before assuming failure.

Liquid alert, screen or camera
- After a drop, test touch, picture, Face ID and every camera before repeated restarts.
- For cracked glass or lines, follow the screen guide.
- If camera-cover glass is broken, keep the phone away from dust and moisture; test the module separately.

Is any USB-C cable suitable for diagnosis?
No. Use a compatible, undamaged cable and adapter known to work. A bad accessory can imitate a failed port.
My iPhone 15 stops at its charge limit. Is the battery faulty?
Check the configured Charge Limit and temperature first. Unusual drain or shutdowns still require diagnosis.
Can I override charging after a liquid alert?
That is not a safe choice. Disconnect the cable and let the port dry according to Apple’s instructions.
