Samsung won't charge: what to check before you visit a repair shop

If a Samsung won’t charge, Galaxy uses USB‑C (and wireless on supported models). Check cable, PD charger, port and moisture warnings. NEXX GSM is independent — not a Samsung Authorized Service Center.

1. Quick checks

  • Another USB‑C cable and charger with enough wattage (25W+ on many Galaxy).
  • Wall outlet, not only PC USB.
  • If wireless works, likely cable / port.
  • Note: must hold cable, one USB‑C orientation, hot socket.
  • Reboot or Safe mode if it boots — rules out some software blocks.

2. When it's cable, port, battery or board

  • Cable: intermittent charge, cracked jacket — replace.
  • Port: cable falls out, lint, oxidation after liquid.
  • Battery: swollen case, sudden shutdown — see battery guide.
  • Board: no charge after clean + good cable, dead wireless, after drop.
  • Fast charging disabled in settings — check Battery / Adaptive charging.

3. What NOT to do

  • Don't force cable if port was wet or liquid contact.
  • No metal in USB‑C port.
  • Don't use very cheap overheating cable.
  • Don't open Galaxy at home without experience.
  • Don't swap battery “by guess” — many are glued / complex.
