1. Settings, not parts
- iPhone: physical silent switch (orange = ringer mute). Also media volume in Control Center.
- Android: not on vibrate/DND; disconnect forgotten Bluetooth.
- Call vs media: two speakers on many phones. One can be dead.
- Mic: record a voice memo. Silence means mic/flex, not “call settings”.
2. Hardware
- Bottom grill packed with lint: muffled sound. Gentle clean, no sharp metal.
- After liquid: don’t max the volume — coil risk. See liquid guide.
- Drop: earpiece or speaker unseated / torn flex.
- Wireless earbuds, one side dead: different path (audio), not the phone speaker.
3. What NOT to do
- Don’t stab the grill with a needle.
- Don’t blow wet air hard.
- Don’t ignore distortion after water.
4. When to book diagnostics
