Dell BIOS password generator not working: what to check next

A generator returning no result does not prove that your Dell cannot be recovered. A rejected result does not prove that the motherboard is faulty. First identify the password screen, then check that the tool actually covers the complete code format.

No result, or a password that was not accepted?

  • No result: check the tool’s published list of supported formats. “Dell” in the title does not mean every Dell generation is included.
  • A result is rejected: compare the full on-screen code, the requested password type and the instructions supplied with that result. Do not keep trying random variations.
  • No complete code is shown: do not create one from the model name or the Service Tag sticker. Ask the owner, company IT or Dell Support about the exact screen.

Check the complete code on your own screen

For an Admin/Setup request in F2, copy the whole System Number, including the characters before the dash and the suffix. Check similar-looking letters and digits against a private photo. A System Number label does not mean that NEXX handles System/startup passwords.

CF1B, 3FE2, 1B58 and 9ABE: check the tool’s scope

On 26 October 2026, the public Dell table at bios-pw.org did not list CF1B, 3FE2, 1B58 or 9ABE. This describes that published list, not every tool or every device. A suffix alone also cannot establish whether a paid service is suitable: the prompt and complete code still matter.

When to stop and ask for help

For a company device, contact the authorized IT team first. For a used laptop, ask the seller to resolve the password or provide the proper handover. Dell Support may request proof of ownership. A startup/System password, HDD/SSD password, Windows login and BitLocker recovery each need their own route; NEXX’s online service is for Admin/Setup only.

Do not reinstall Windows, clear TPM, change Secure Boot or flash an unknown BIOS file just to try to remove a password. These are not interchangeable recovery methods and can affect startup or encrypted data.

Check a Dell Admin BIOS code

If you own the device or have written permission, use the complete code from its Admin password screen. The free check shows the recognized format and the current offer; it is not a test performed on your laptop. If the screen is unclear, ask support before ordering.

FAQ3
Does “no result” mean recovery is impossible?

No. It can mean that the tool does not cover that format. Check the prompt and full code before deciding on the next route.

Will another BIOS password help with BitLocker or Windows?

No. Recover the Windows account or the BitLocker recovery key through its own process.

Should I post my full System Number in a forum?

No. Keep the full code and screen photo in a private support conversation.
